North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy Jurisprudence Exam

Rule .0201(a)(5) of the Rules of the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy states that applicants for licensure are required to successfully complete a jurisprudence exam administered by the Board.  To successfully complete the exam you must answer all questions correctly.  You may take the exam after receiving your login during the application process.  You will receive this login and password in the application instructions that are emailed to you when you request the application.  There is no fee to take the exam and you may take it more than once if you do not answer all questions correctly on your first try.  To prepare for the exam you need to read the Practice Act and Rules of the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.

To take the exam:

  1. Click on the "Login to Exam" link below.

  2. Use the User ID and Password supplied to you by the Board to login to the test.

  3. Once you have logged in, select the Jurisprudence Exam by clicking on the round button on the far right of the exam then clicking on the "Take selected test / survey button".

  4. Be sure to read the "Attestation" and "Jurisprudence Exam" information.

  5. Follow the prompts and take the exam.

Points to remember while taking the exam:

You are required to score a 100% on the exam.  The exam is thirty (30) multiple choice questions randomly pulled from a large bank of questions. Each therapist's exam will be different. There is a link displayed with each question referring to the particular section of the Practice Act or Rules pertaining to that question. You are allowed to retake the exam as many times as needed to score 100%. After completing the exam, a review will be displayed showing which questions were correct and incorrect.  Your correct answers will remain from exam to exam.  When retaking the exam you only need to change the answers to the questions you missed.  To modify your answers, you must finish and quit the current exam then log back on to restart the exam process.

Finishing and Quitting the Exam

If you need to quit the exam before completing all the questions, just click on the "Summary" button then click on "Finish the Exam" and follow the prompts.  This will ensure that any answers you have made will be saved.  Do not quit the exam by closing your browser before you have finished the exam as described above.  Failure to do so will result in the loss of any answers you have entered into the exam.  Once you have correctly quit the exam, you will be returned to the login screen.  Your browser can be closed safely at this point.  Only scores of 100% will be sent to Board.
